Stormy Monday

So seems woeful weather has finally hit the mid-West. The sun went down at approximately 3:00 PM today, dropping  the already brisk temp still a few degrees lower and more or less putting a freeze (see what I did there) on my afternoon walk around the block. All that combined with this being the start of the work week led to my having a most craptacular of days. Catharsis Mix, go! Five songs about that most lamentable of days, first in sequence alone–Monday. Just me, or do the Brits really have a fix on how shitty the week gets post-Sabbath? Also, watching the trailer to 1988’s Stormy Monday (“[comma] Romantic Thriller”) has officially cheered me up.

  1. Hahaha: “Some women are trouble… hi, hi… this one is worth it.” That trailer is amazing. I also like how they felt the need to tell you what kind of movie it is at the end. It’s a romantic thriller.

But ya, those Brits sure know how to stew in their early-week gloom. Really liked the Suede and Rialto tracks. I think I’ll be adding Suede to my xmas/birthday list. Recommendation on which album to go with?

  2. Suede’s s/t is my favorite, Brit-pop glam at its finest. Check the video for “The Drowners” — if Laszlo Toth had even half of Brett Anderson’s unabashedly androgynous sexuality, we’d be like four or five times as popular. You work on finding the silk shirts, and I’ll start practicing my neck clutching moves.
