ST Fear… “Duress”

It’s been quite some time since the last installment of “ST Fear…”, the epic series where we take a look at our favorite tracks that span that golden 8-minute mark.

Ah the golden 8-minute mark: It’ll either crush you or make you a legend. The golden 8-minute mark: It’ll turn boy-songs into man-songs with man things. The golden 8-minute mark: It’ll transform a mere lengthy song into an experience. The 8-minute mark that is golden: Because those are the songs that stay with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. Folk in those songs had lots of chances to turn back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. But I think, Mr Frodo… wait… I mean…

I mean, “Duress” off Swervedriver’s 1993 release, Mezcal Head, may only barely make it over said golden mark, but it’s definitely one of those experiences.
