Well, Friday and the skies are finally bordering on sunny—if this is a sign of things to come, I should be one happy dude by Monday morning (at which point I’ll quickly relapse to crushing malaise). I have a touch of residual nostalgia after yesterday’s Throwback, so I spent most of today listening to the 2003 debut from Bear vs. Shark, a local favorite popular during my late teenage years. Hard rock through and through (though sometimes pigeonholed with that nasty EMO label), BvsS were rightfully famous throughout southern Michigan for their intoxicatingly manic live performances—Marc Paffi sang with his entire body (like a goofier, far less intimidating Henry Rollins), a perfect match to the band’s raucous hooks and double-time beats. Anyhoo, everyone remember to call your mother on Sunday.
