Thursday Throwback: “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)”

Ah, Thursday. Time again to turn to those sunnier days of yore. Full disclosure: I have only vague memories of this week’s Throwback from its initial release the summer of my seventh year—I actually could have sworn the song was by TLC, part of a triumvirate of poppy R&B singles including “Waterfalls” and “No Scrubs.” Credit in fact belongs to En Vogue, the manufactured girl group responsible for a flurry of top ten hits in the early nineties, among them “Free Your Mind,” “Giving Him Something He Can Feel,” and “Don’t Let Go (Love).”   “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” remains their most lasting legacy and highest chart success, climbing to number two on the Hot 100, held from the top spot only by the dreadnaught of cute that was Kriss Kross’ “Jump.”

  1. You may have just scored a killtacular with the Streetsharks reference….. Well played

Also TLC is one of the premier bands on the highly requested and only once played “Douche 90’s mix”, i can see how u got these two bands confused.
